Cookie policy

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This page explains which cookies and other browser storage CariX uses, under Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy) as transposed in the EU countries (in Romania, Article 4(5) of Law No. 506/2004) and the GDPR. The Romanian version prevails if the two versions differ.
1. In short#
- We use necessary cookies to make the site work. We do not ask for consent for them, because the site does not work without them.
- Google Analytics loads only if you accept the “Analytics” category. Until then no Google script is loaded and no analytics cookie is saved.
- Also only with “Analytics” consent, we count what visitors do on the home page, to see which version of it helps them best. For this we use no cookies and save nothing in your browser.
- Also only with “Analytics” consent, we anonymously count visits and clicks (phone, website, directions) on listed businesses' profiles, without cookies and without keeping your IP address.
- Google Analytics never runs inside accounts (driver account, shop dashboard, administration) or on pages opened from personal links (estimates, car passport, reviews).
- We do not use advertising cookies.

3. Other data saved in your browser#
Besides cookies, we save a few preferences in your browser (localStorage and sessionStorage) that stay on your device:
carix-theme– the theme you chose: light, dark or your system's;carix-pwa-visits,carix-pwa-dismiss,carix-push-dismiss– whether you closed the invitation to install the app or enable notifications, so we do not show it again;carix-session-id(sessionStorage) – a random code for the browsing session, sent only together with a feedback message so we can group reported problems; it disappears when you close the tab.
4. How to change your choice#
You can give or withdraw consent at any time, with the button below or the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops immediately, the _ga cookies are deleted and we stop counting what you do on the home page.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in.
5. Google Analytics#
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited; data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. 6. Our own home page statistics#
The home page comes in a few versions, and each time it opens it gets one at random. The version is picked even without your consent, but we count what you do with it only if you accept “Analytics”: that you saw it, whether you used it and whether you went on to the search or to a shop's sign-up.
We use no cookies for this and save nothing in your browser. Each opening of the page gets a random code that exists only while the page is open, so two visits cannot be linked. Along with it we send the version, the kind of screen (phone or desktop) and the site language. These statistics do not include your IP address, your account or details about your browser. The data stays with CariX, is used only to pick the better version and is deleted after at most 12 months.
7. Statistics for listed businesses#
On a listed business's public profile we count, only if you accept “Analytics”, that you opened the profile and whether you tapped its phone, website or directions. Businesses pay some fees based on these numbers and get a monthly report of them.
We use no cookies for this and save nothing in your browser. We do not keep your IP address or browser details: from them, together with the date, we compute a code that changes daily, only lets us count the same visitor once a day and is deleted after 2 days. We also keep only the approximate country, the date, the type of action and the page you came from (search, category or profile), for at most 24 months.
